Bou Habib renews to his Algerian counterpart the Lebanese government’s appreciation for President Tebboune’s initiative to supply Lebanon with fuel, receives phone call from his Australian counterpart

Caretaker Foreign Minister, Dr. Abdullah Bou Habib, on Tuesday contacted by phone his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf, during which he renewed the Lebanese government’s thanks and appreciation for Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s initiative to supply Lebanon with fuel.

Minister Bou Habib also relayed to his Algerian counterpart the Lebanese people’s gratitude for “the step taken by the sisterly Algeria.”

Bou Habib also thanked Algeria for its constant support to Lebanon in all the difficult circumstances, and hailed the ongoing cooperation and coordination between the two countries at the United Nations and the Security Council on issues of mutual concern.

For his part, Minister Attaf said: ‘Algeria does not want Lebanon to plunge into complete darkness, and it is currently looking into the fastest way to send fuel to Lebanon.’

He also reaffirmed his country’s readiness “to do whatever is necessary to support Lebanon in international forums, particularly at the UN Security Council.”

On the o
ther hand, Minister Bou Habib received a phone call from Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, during which they presented the security situation in Lebanon and the region, and the ongoing Israeli aggression on Lebanese territory and the necessity of putting an end to it in order to restore calm to southern Lebanon..

The Australian Minister stressed “the importance of reaching a ceasefire in Gaza and southern Lebanon,” and expressed her country’s keenness on the security and safety of its nationals in Lebanon.

Minister Bou Habib also received the Polish Ambassador to Lebanon, Przemyslaw Niesiolowski, who came on a farewell visit upon the end of his diplomatic mission in the country.
