Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Dr. Abdallah Bou Habib, on Monday met with the newly appointed President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Kate Forbes.

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stressed, during the phone call he received today, 5-2-2024, from Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein, the necessity of working to contain the growing tension in the region, stressing that Cairo fully supports the security and stability of brotherly Iraq.
Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zaid, stated that the two ministers stressed – during the call – the depth and solidity of Egyptian-Iraqi relations, and their common desire to advance them to broad horizons that achieve the interests of the two brotherly peoples and preserve the safety and stability of each of them.
The two ministers reviewed aspects of bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, and agreed to continue coordination in order to implement existing bilateral cooperation projects.
Spokesman added that the call touched on the military escalation taking place in the region, including what the Iraqi and Syrian arenas witnessed recently.

bu Zaid added that the call touched on the situation in the Gaza Strip, where the Foreign Minister reaffirmed the necessity of a ceasefire and working to bring aid in in a sustainable manner to deal with the explosive humanitarian situation in the Strip.
