Blinken urges ceasefire in Gaza

Washington: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken Wednesday called for a ceasefire in Gaza following the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh.

According to the Washington Times, Blinken’s statements came during a forum in Singapore, where he said that reaching a ceasefire in Gaza is “an eternal necessity.”

According to the Washington Post, Blinken said “the United States had no hand in the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.”

In a televised interview, excerpts of which were published by his office, he said the US was “not aware of or involved in” the killing of Haniyeh.
