Berri broaches latest developments with Iranian Foreign Minister, meets Caretaker Ministers of Labor and Public Works, lawmakers

House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Friday welcomed at the Second Presidency in Ain El-TTineh, visiting Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, in the presence of Iranian Chargé d’Affaires, Tawfik Samadi, and the Iranian delegation.

The meeting was also attended by Speaker Berri’s Political Aid, MP Ali Hassan Khalil.

The meeting reportedly touched on the current situation in Lebanon and the region, as well as political and field developments in light of Israel’s escalation of its aggression against Lebanon.

On emerging, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi underlined Iran’s full support for Lebanon and the resistance.

Minister Araghchi said: “The Islamic Republic of Iran has been and continues to be supportive of Lebanon, and of Hezbollah, and it was necessary for me to say this personally.”

Araghchi added: “We have no plans to continue the war unless the Israeli entity decides to continue its attacks.”

“If the Israeli side takes any action against us, we will respond, and our response will be proportionate
and fully studied,” the Iranian Minister said.

He also pointed out that “consultations are ongoing to cease fire, provided that the rights of the Lebanese people are taken into account.”

On the other hand, Speaker Berri received in Ain El-Tineh, Caretaker Labor Minister, Mustafa Bayram Mustafa Bayram, who Berri received the Minister of Labor in the caretaker government, Mustafa Bayram, who offered condolences over the martyrdom of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and all fallen martyrs.

Berri also followed up on the country’s general situation and developments, especially those related to land, air and sea facilities and their workflow, during his meeting with Caretaker Minister of Public Works and Transport Ali Hamieh.

Berri later received MP Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Bizri, with whom he discussed the political developments and the affairs of the displaced in the Sidon region.

Berri also met MP Jihad Al-Samad, with discussions touching on the political developments, the file of the displaced and the necessity of secu
ring all their basic livelihood needs.
