Head of the Free Patriotic Movement, MP Gebran Bassil, met today with Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siarto. In his word during the meeting, Bassil stressed “respect for the sovereignty and privacy of peoples,” denouncing “the attempt to attack values and dismantle the family.” He highlighted the “many common values, sufferings, and heroics shared between Lebanon and Hungary, created by history which calls us to build a common future based on justice and peace.” He added: “Our common message is one of love, openness, positive interaction between peoples, and mutual respect…Respect for borders, sovereignty, and dignity at a time when the powerful with their weapons and economy rule over the weak…But our strength is based on the criterion of spirit and faith. Our message is respect for the cultural and religious diversity and the privacy of peoples, and a call to refrain from conspiracies to uproot peoples from their land and plant them in the land of other peoples…Here we are fighting together against the same parties that are trying to force an exodus that turns into a settlement in our two countries. Our message is to respect and preserve family values, which are the basis of every society and the basis of faith in our religion. Christ, who was born of the Holy Spirit, is the son of the family of Joseph and Mary.” Bassil concluded: “They are trying to dismantle the family by promoting and even imposing methods of manipulating human nature and changing it from what the Creator created…Our confrontation is common, our values are common, our future is common, so let us build it together on true human values.”
