Cairo: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi visited the Stena Forth drillship as Chevron commences its Egyptian West Mediterranean offshore endeavor; with the drilling of the Khendjer-1 well on the North El Dabaa block. Badawi was accompanied by Kristian Svendsen, Chevron’s Country Manager, along with key figures from the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR).
According to State Information Service Egypt, this field visit marks the early stages of the drilling campaign, underscoring the strategic partnership between Egypt and Chevron, amidst ongoing efforts to intensify drilling and exploration activities, particularly in the Mediterranean region. The Minister met with the company’s work team and stressed the importance of exerting efforts to accelerate the drilling operations of the new well. Badawi stated that cooperation between the petroleum sector and Chevron in exploiting opportunities in the Mediterranean Sea would yield positive results in terms of developing more un
discovered resources for the benefit of the Egyptian economy.
Meanwhile, Svendsen affirmed Chevron’s commitment to working with the Egyptian government and various partners to support the growth of the Egyptian energy sector by continuing to implement research and exploration programs in Egypt.
