Grand imam of Al Azhar Ahmed el Tayyeb, during a phone call with Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa discussed humanitarian challenges and common Islamic issues of mutual concern.
Tayyeb and Hamad also highlighted the depth of relations between Al Azhar and the Kingdom of Bahrain, and exchanged views on humanitarian challenges.
They also reviewed the importance of Islamic-Islamic dialogue for which the Kingdom of Bahrain will host an important conference early next year, stressing the need to work on uniting the nation and enhancing cohesion and solidarity among its various components in face of common challenges.
The imam expressed Al-Azhar’s appreciation for the strong relations with Bahrain, and efforts made by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to serve Islam, promote peace and coexistence, consolidate the culture of dialogue, and support the Palestinian cause and the rights of the oppressed Palestinian people.
For his part, the King of Bahrain expressed during the call his appreciation for the efforts
of Tayyeb in serving Islam and Muslims, and introducing the tolerant principles of Islam.
