Ayla Sponsors ‘Clean Up the World 2024’ Campaign in Aqaba


Ayla Oasis Development Company has extended its support to the “Clean Up the World 2024” campaign, organized by the Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan, under the patronage of HRH Princess Basma bint Ali. The two-day event, held on September 18-19, is focused on raising awareness and promoting environmental sustainability in Aqaba.

Ayla’s continuous sponsorship of the campaign reflects its deep commitment to marine sustainability and preserving the region’s vital ecosystems. This partnership aligns with the company’s social responsibility strategy, which fosters collaboration with the local community and supports efforts to protect the environment.

The campaign included a series of environmental, tourism, and awareness activities in collaboration with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), Ayla Oasis Development, and local and private sector representatives. It also involved diving centers and environmental organizations working together to clean up the underwater environment in Aqaba.

Ayla’s diving team participated in seabed clean-up efforts on the first day in the Al-Mamlah area, attended by ASEZA Chairman Nayef Al-Fayez, who represented HRH Princess Basma bint Ali. On Thursday, Jordan’s Royal Navy, Civil Defense divers, and the Prince Hamza Center for Marine Pollution Control, along with several local diving centers, joined the initiative, cleaning various sites along Aqaba’s shores.

Sahel Dudin, CEO of Ayla Oasis Development, expressed Ayla’s ongoing commitment to such initiatives, stating, “Ayla has always been a proud supporter of this noble campaign and remains a leader in protecting nature. The ‘Clean Up the World 2024’ campaign is one of the most important global initiatives, and we aim to highlight Jordan’s role in preserving the environment and keeping our beaches pristine, in line with our commitment to a green future for the coming generations.”

Dudin added that Ayla has pioneered programs to protect natural resources, and its leadership in sustainability is a core value tha
t has guided the company’s operations over the past two decades. Ayla’s multifaceted environmental strategy includes protecting marine and terrestrial biodiversity, preserving migratory bird habitats, promoting recycling, green energy, reducing emissions, and fostering environmental education.

Khaled Kurdi, Secretary and Acting Executive Director of the Royal Marine Conservation Society, emphasized the importance of this year’s campaign, noting the strong partnerships formed with the private sector. He highlighted the role of corporate social responsibility in promoting sustainable environmental practices that help protect marine resources and reduce pollution, ensuring the conservation of marine biodiversity for future generations.

The “Clean Up the World 2024” campaign spanned multiple sites across Aqaba, including seabed clean-up efforts in the southern beach area on the first day and Ayla Marina on the second. Volunteers participated in sorting and weighing collected waste, while Ayla hosted several env
ironmental activities as part of its “Green Generation” initiative, which involved 23 schools presenting technology-driven environmental projects.

Ayla was selected as a key site for the “Clean Up the World 2024” campaign due to its exemplary commitment to preserving natural habitats. The development’s approach to balancing urban investment with environmental sustainability serves as a model for integrating conservation into the planning and execution of large-scale projects.
