Awqaf Minister Osama El-Azhari emphasised the historical ties between Egypt and Chad, expressing admiration and respect for all Chadian scholars. He stressed the importance of further comprehensive co-operation between the two countries in the coming period.

This statement came during El-Azhari’s meeting at his residence in Makkah with President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Chad Mohammed Khater Issa and Grand Mufti of Chad Sheikh Ahmed Nour Al-Hilu.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the ninth International Conference of Ministers of Religious Endowments and Islamic Affairs, currently held in Makkah.

El-Azhari highlighted the historical and familial ties between Egypt and Chad which sharing the same moderate and centrist Islamic thought. He noted that there are many Al-Azhar institutes in Chad, affirming that this meeting aimed to open more avenues for cooperation.

During his speech, Khater Issa expressed his joy at meeting El-Azhari in the sacred vicinity of Makkah, emphasizing the
significant responsibilities and noble goals of Awqaf minister.

The Grand Mufti of Chad, in turn, underscored the importance of dawah (Islamic preaching) and preachers, noting to the strong ties between Chad and Egypt. He stated that the curricula taught in Chad are by Egyptian professors and based on Egyptian materials in creed, jurisprudence, and monotheism.

At the end of the meeting, El-Azhari presented Dr. Mohammed Khater Issa and Sheikh Ahmed Nour Al-Hilu with a copy of the ‘Mosque of Egypt Quran,’ which was commissioned by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi upon the inauguration of the Grand Mosque of Egypt and its cultural Islamic center in the new administrative capital.
