Awqaf Minister condemns storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli extremist ministers, Knesset members

Awqaf Minister, Mohammad Khalaileh, condemned on Tuesday the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by extremist ministers of the Israeli government and members of the Knesset.

“The storming, which took place under the protection of the Israeli occupation police, and coincided with the incursions of Israeli extremist herds and their provocative practices, setting up dance, clapping and singing circles, raising the Israeli flag in the courtyards of the Holy Mosque, and imposing restrictions on the entry of worshipers to the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al Haram Al Sharif, are part of attempts to Judaize the vicinity of the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque and occupy its yards and gates with provocative violations aimed at changing the Arab Islamic identity of the Holy City and imposing a new reality in blatant violation of international law and historical and legal status quo,” Khalaileh said in a statement.

He added that the raids are a provocation to the feelings of two billion Muslims around the world, reflecting the Israeli government
and its extremist members insistence on flouting international laws and Israel’s obligations as the occupying power.

The Awqaf Minister stressed that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Sharif, with its entire area of 144 dunums, is an exclusive place of worship for Muslims, and that the Department of Jerusalem Endowments and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs of the Jordanian Awqaf Ministry under the Hashemite custodianship is the legal entity with exclusive jurisdiction to manage all affairs of the Holy Mosque and regulate access to it.
