Rome – Ma’an – Within the activities of the fifth Palestinian Culture Celebration in Italy, which is held by the Palestinian community in Rome in cooperation with some Italian cultural institutions, the novels “Life as It Should Be” by the novelist Dr. Ahmed Rafiq and “Memory of a Second-Class Boy” by the novelist and translator Dr. Odeh Amarneh, both published by the publishing house “Klamos” were announced and signed.
The event was attended by Her Excellency the Ambassador of the State of Palestine, Abeer Odeh, Dr. Faisal Aranki, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and Head of the Expatriates Department, Dr. Yousef Salman, Head of the Palestinian Community in Rome and Lazio, and the participation of researcher and orientalist Isabella Camera d’Affletto, poet and journalist Giulia Bertouti, and a large audience of Italian writers, poets, publishers, and students in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Dr. Faisal Aranki spoke and p
raised the role of intellectuals in strengthening and developing relations between the two friendly peoples, especially in these difficult circumstances that our cause is going through. Meanwhile, the orientalist referred to the two novels and what they contain of a reflection of Palestinian culture and its aspiration for freedom, a dignified life, and liberation from the occupation. The poet Bertoti pointed out that the two Palestinian novels were concerned with Palestinian heritage and shedding light on its rich and ancient aspects.
This was followed by the novelists Awad and Amarneh signing their novels and answering the audience’s questions.
