Abu Dhabi: Civil Aviation Minister Sameh El Hefny emphasized Egypt’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions through innovative strategies in the aviation sector. Speaking at the 4th ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium, El Hefny highlighted Egypt’s focus on sustainable aviation investments, such as electric aircraft, smart airports, and clean fuel technologies.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the minister stressed the importance of international cooperation to achieve sustainable development in civil aviation. He noted that global collaboration is crucial for fostering technological solutions that promote sustainability and digital transformation in the aviation industry. El Hefny also pointed out the role of international meetings in facilitating dialogue and knowledge exchange.
On the sidelines of the symposium, El Hefny engaged in discussions with the Malaysian minister of transport to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation. He also met with representatives from the International
Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the Air Transport Bureau in Cairo, and officials from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Boeing. These meetings focused on the latest developments and cooperation in sustainable aviation, legislative updates, and safety standards.
The symposium, which coincided with the launch of the UAE’s “Global Sustainable Aviation Marketplace,” attracted 1,500 participants, including over 35 ministers responsible for air transport and aviation, as well as civil aviation directors from 193 countries.
