The 60th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Arab Union of Electricity (AUE) on Tuesday discussed the AUE’s activities and procedures for establishing permanent headquarters in Amman.
Chaired by the AUE’s Vice President, Amjad Rawashdeh, the participants approved the union’s financial and administrative reports for the fiscal year 2023 and its activities for next year, especially its 8th conference, which will be hosted by the city of Riyadh in Saudi Arabia during next February 11-13.
The meeting also went over preparations for holding the Riyadh conference and the key issues on its agenda.
During the meeting, Rawashdeh said discussions will address electricity systems challenges, under the difficult circumstances facing the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank.
In this regard, he noted about 2 million people are deprived of electricity, water and food and suffer aggression, which killed thousands, most of them children and women.
Rawashdeh added that the meeting is “important” in discussing
and addressing challenges facing electricity systems in the Arab world, especially in light of impact of climate change on these networks, praising the union’s achievements and its role in framing Arab efforts to improve electricity networks.
