Asian Paralympic Committee, Korea Institute of Sport Science sign MoU

DUBAI: The Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Korea Institute of Sport Science (KISS) during a ceremony in Dubai on Monday.

The MoU forms a strategic alliance between the two organisations, focusing on specialised training programmes for Para athletes, research initiatives, and sustainable collaboration. It aims to contribute to the further growth, recognition, and support of Para-sports in Asia.

This partnership will also benefit Para athletes, particularly in the UAE, by leveraging KISS’s advanced sports science expertise.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dubai Sports Council Secretary-General Saeed Hareb, KISS President Song Kang Young, and APC President Majid Rashed.

‘Today marks a milestone for the entire Asian Paralympic fraternity. The APC’s vision is to create an inclusive Asia through Para sport, and a key part of our mission is to support the NPCs to enable Para athletes to achieve sporting excellence from grassroots to elite level,’ Rashed s
aid at the signing ceremony.

‘Our Asian athletes have reached elite-level sporting excellence in major championships, including the recent Paralympic Games in Paris, where they won numerous medals and set new records. However, sports science is one area where Paralympic sports lag behind their Olympic counterparts. This MoU aims to address that gap through specialised training programmes and research initiatives.’
