Cairo – The Arab Parliament, convening in Cairo on Saturday, highlighted the significant role and sustained efforts of HM King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, in defending the Palestinian cause.

During its 5th session, the Arab Parliament adopted a resolution addressing the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories. The resolution underscored the contributions of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, operating under the Al-Quds Committee, in preserving the identity and legal status of the Holy City and supporting its residents’ resilience.

The Parliament called for enhanced coordination among Arab and regional parliaments to support the full membership of the State of Palestine in the United Nations. It urged countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to do so in all international forums.

Additionally, the Arab Parliament praised the efforts of Arab and international actors advocating for an immediate and urgent cessation of the aggression in Gaza, a ceasefire, and
the resolution of the regional conflict in line with existing international conventions.

In this respect, the Parliament reaffirmed its support for the Palestinian people and their just national cause until they achieve their legitimate rights to return, freedom, and self-determination, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital.

The resolution called on international and UN entities to take responsibility in establishing peace, security, and stability in the Middle East, emphasizing that these goals are unattainable without addressing the Palestinian issue and ensuring justice and freedom for the Palestinian people. The session also saw the adoption of a resolution concerning the situation of Palestinian women in the occupied territories.

The session’s agenda included reviewing reports from the four permanent committees: the Foreign Affairs, Political Affairs, and National Security Committee; the Legislative, Legal, and Human Rights Committee; the Social, Educati
onal, Cultural, Women, and Youth Affairs Committee; and the Palestine Committee, which monitors significant developments in Palestine and efforts to end Israeli aggression in Gaza.

The meeting also included discussions on draft resolutions and laws proposed by the parliamentary committees during their preparatory meetings, aimed at tracking political developments in Arab countries throughout the year.
