A total of 1,617 foreign direct investment projects worth $200 billion were inbound to the Arab region during 2022, a whopping increase of 74 percent, the Arab Investment and Export Credit Guarantee Corporation (Dhaman) has revealed. Jordan ranked 13th in the Arab world on the list of recipients of foreign direct investment projects in terms of investment costs for the past year, luring in $377 million and 10 projects carried out by 9 foreign companies, said a statement by Dhaman on Thursday. Egypt ranked 1st with foreign projects worth $107 billion, followed by Qatar with $30 billion, Morocco with $15.3 billion, Saudi Arabia with $13.2 billion, and the United Arab Emirates with $11 billion. Dhaman is a joint Arab corporation owned by the governments of Arab states and four Arab financial institutions. It was established in 1974 and is headquartered in Kuwait.
