AND arrests 19 drug traffickers, promoters-PSD

The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) agents arrested 19 drug dealers and pushers in a number of specific cases in the Kingdom’s various governorates.

In a statement Sunday, the media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said the AND personnel continue to pursue all forms of drug trading to arrest dealers and promoters.

During the past few days, the official said the AND dealt with 7 specific cases in a number of Jordan’s governorates.

In a key case in central Mafraq governorate, four drug dealers and promoters were arrested after intelligence efforts and 20,000 narcotic pills were seized in their possession.

In another crackdown in Mafraq, two drug dealers were raided after confirming their possession of “large” quantities of narcotics, who were arrested and 21 palm-sized sheets and 5,000 narcotic pills were seized.

The spokesperson added that a security campaign was also organized in Mafraq to raid and pursue suspects and others wanted for drug trafficking and promotion, which led to t
he arrest of 5 wanted suspects.

A special security crackdown was carried out in the areas east of Amman to arrest suspects wanted in drug cases, and 5 people were busted and various quantities of narcotics were seized.

In another incident in the capital, a drug dealer was raided and arrested, and 700 grams of crystal meth were seized in his possession. Meanwhile, a wanted person classified as dangerous and wanted in drug cases was arrested in Zarqa governorate.

In the northern Irbid governorate, the AND arrested a dealer with half a kilogram of the deadly crystal meth. All cases were referred to the Public Prosecutor of the State Security Court (SSC).
