Amman Industry Chamber Gears Up for JoHome Expo in September

Amman: The Amman Chamber of Industry, through the “Made in Jordan” program, is organizing the second session of the JoHome exhibition next September at the Amman International Motor Show.

JoHome is the largest exhibition for daily-use products in Jordan, featuring sectors such as manufacturing detergents, disinfectants, air fresheners, sterilizers, sanitary paper products, cosmetics, plastic and electrical tools, furniture, and furnishings.

Fathi Jaghbir, head of the chamber, stated on Sunday, that the five-day exhibition is a continuation of the Chamber’s efforts to promote Jordanian industry and showcase the quality of its products, making them strong competitors in export markets.

He added that the exhibition, spanning approximately 7,000 square meters, provides industrial companies with an opportunity to display their products to citizens, consumers, and traders. It also facilitates business meetings with traders, importers, and purchasing managers from various institutions, hospitals, hotels, and rest
aurants.

Jaghbir highlighted the success of the first session held last year, which featured 52 Jordanian industrial companies and attracted 25,000 visitors, alongside bilateral meetings with Saudi and Iraqi traders.

Scheduled to open on September 24, the exhibition will offer direct shopping for citizens from 3 pm to 10 pm, aiming to boost confidence in the quality of Jordanian products both locally and internationally and to expand their share in the local market.

He pointed out that the Chamber has invited wholesale and retail traders, importers, and purchasing managers from various institutions in the public and private sectors of Jordan and Arab countries to visit the exhibition and explore potential commercial partnerships with the participating companies.

Jaghbir noted that Jordanian industrial products currently hold a 42 percent share of the local market. While this percentage is promising, it falls short of aspirations, especially considering the royal directives emphasizing the importance of se
lf-reliance.

The “Made in Jordan” program aims to increase the share of national products in local markets and grow Jordanian exports by 15 percent annually in certain sectors with a competitive advantage. It also seeks to build complementary partnerships with various public and private sector entities.

He emphasized the Chamber’s efforts to open foreign markets to Jordanian industry, provide services and programs to boost the competitiveness of industrial products, hold specialized local exhibitions, facilitate industrial participation in foreign exhibitions, and promote investment opportunities in the industrial sector.

Jaghbir highlighted the industrial sector’s substantial production capacities, valued at approximately JD18 billion, through the production of over 1,500 different goods across various activities and sub-industrial sectors.

He noted that the industrial sector significantly contributes to the national economy, both directly and indirectly, by accounting for more than 44 percent of the Gro
ss Domestic Product due to its strong integration with other economic sectors.
