ABU DHABI: Alexander Schonfelder, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the UAE, visited the Production Centre for People of Determination, affiliated with the Zayed Higher Organisation, to learn about their programmes and initiatives for people of determination, explore potential collaboration opportunities, and witness firsthand the vocational training and employment opportunities provided.
The visit highlighted the organisation’s commitment to providing comprehensive care, rehabilitation, and vocational training to empower people of determination and integrate them into society.
He was received by Abdullah Abdul-Ali Al-Humaidan, Secretary-General of the organisation, along with senior officials.
The German Ambassador praised the organisation for its comprehensive services and integration, showing admiration for the vocational rehabilitation workshops and high-quality products produced by the students at the Production Centre for People of Determination during his visit.
Al-Humaidan welcomed
the German Ambassador and presented an overview of the organisation’s services for people of determination, emphasising UAE leadership support for these groups and the organisation’s efforts to provide top-notch care and rehabilitation in line with wise leadership directives, incorporating advanced technologies and global experiences.
The German Ambassador, accompanied by embassy staff, received an overview of Zayed Higher Organisation’s strategic projects and services for people of determination in Abu Dhabi, visiting unique initiatives like the Bee Café, managed by individuals of determination offering coffee and training, and the Blooming Bee Flower Project, a workshop creating flower arrangements staffed by female students trained for market demands.
The Ambassador visited a chocolate-making workshop operated by individuals of determination under “The Bee” brand, as well as a central workshop for prosthetics and orthotics in collaboration with German company O T P, supporting employment and training. Th
e tour also included a cheese factory managed by women of determination producing dairy products, as well as sewing workshops offering job opportunities for individuals with intellectual challenges in line with market needs.
The Ambassador visited printing services run by individuals of determination creating various items and the first 3D printing workshop managed by people of determination in collaboration with HP.
