Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid Presents Credentials to NATO Secretary General


Brussels: Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, Egypt’s Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, the European Union, and NATO, presented his credentials to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on Wednesday. In a bilateral meeting following the ceremony, the Egyptian ambassador and the NATO chief discussed developments regarding the growing regional and international security challenges and threats.



According to State Information Service Egypt, Abu Zeid highlighted Egypt’s efforts to halt the wars in the Gaza Strip and Sudan, enhance stability, and achieve peace in the region. The meeting also addressed the recently launched NATO action plan for the Southern Flank, the appointment of a NATO special representative for the southern neighbourhood, and existing cooperation programs between NATO and its partners in the region.



Rutte expressed his appreciation for the significant efforts made by Egypt under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to resolve crises in the Middle East, promote a culture of peace and development, and support stability. He requested that his greetings and personal appreciation be conveyed to President Sisi.
