Cairo: H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, received Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Askar Zhengis, to discuss ways to enhance future cooperation between the two countries.
According to State Information Service Egypt, H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat began the meeting by congratulating Ambassador Askar Zhengis on his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Arab Republic of Egypt. She emphasized the importance of continuing to work on increasing cooperation and coordination to enhance integration between Egypt and Kazakhstan, highlighting the distinguished relations between the two countries.
H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat noted that bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Egypt date back decades and encompass many fields, such as trade, cultural exchange, and cooperation in education. These ties have fostered strong interest from the Kazakh private sector in Egypt.
H.E. Minister Al-Mashat mentioned that Kazakh companies have recently increased their presence in Egypt, with support from the Kazakh side to boost trade, investments, and commercial exchange through an export credit system.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed various common issues, including the proposed draft protocol for the 6th session of the Egyptian-Kazakh Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation. They also discussed signing several memoranda of understanding across fields like culture, renewable energy, space activities, civil aviation, labor movement regulation, and an agreement to avoid double taxation and prevent tax evasion between the two countries.
Additionally, the meeting addressed bilateral cooperation in wheat and grain exports through the Suez Canal Economic Zone. The discussion extended to the construction sector, encouraging Egyptian companies to enter the Kazakh market and highlighting Egypt’s extensive experience in implementing national projects such as the New Administrative Capital, New Alamein City, and the Suez Canal expansion.
