Al-Azhar Condemns Sudan’s ‘Brutal Massacres

Al-Azhar, the top Islamic Sunni institute in Egypt, strongly condemned the brutal massacres occurring in Sudan, particularly in villages in the western, southern, and eastern areas of Al-Jazirah Province.

These atrocities have claimed the lives of approximately 500 young people, including children, women, and the elderly, and left hundreds wounded or missing, said Al-Azhar in a statement on Monday.

Al-Azhar affirmed that terrorizing peaceful civilians, killing them, and exacting revenge for political motives is a heinous terrorist crime against humanity, given that the noble faith regards such acts as grave sins and among the most severe offenses.

Al-Azhar also called upon the international community to stand in solidarity with the Sudanese people, in the face of these brutal massacres, and bring the perpetrators to justice.

As Al-Azhar condemned these horrific massacres; it offers condolences to the Sudanese people, praying that Almighty God envelops the victims in His vast mercy and forgiveness, grants
recovery to the wounded, alleviates the suffering of the Sudanese people, unites them for the good of their nation, and protects them from all harm and misfortune.
