Ahmed bin Mohammed receives President of Mongolian National Olympic Committee


DUBAI: H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the National Olympic Committee, today received Battushig Batbold, President of the Mongolian National Olympic Committee. The meeting, at the Emirates Towers, centred around ways of enhancing cooperation and bilateral relations besides initiatives to advance the Olympic movement in the two countries.

The two sides reviewed major upcoming sporting events on the international calendar, most notably the fourth Winter Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon, South Korea, scheduled to be held in January, the first time the event will be hosted in Asia, in addition to the Summer Olympics to be held in Paris in 2024.

The meeting also included a brief introductory overview of the first Gulf Youth Games, which will be hosted by the UAE from 16th April to 2nd May, 2024, and its role in enhancing the preparedness of athletes from Gulf Cooperation Council countries to compete in major sporting events. The meeting reviewed th
e most important programmes, training seminars and initiatives held recently by the Olympic Council of Asia for the respective national Olympic committees.

Batbold expressed his happiness at meeting H.H. Sheikh Ahmed and the opportunity to boost bilateral cooperation and partnerships with the UAE National Olympic Committee. He highlighted the unique strengths and enormous potential of the UAE in terms of sports infrastructure, facilities and amenities, which make it a preferred choice for many countries and sports entities looking to conduct camps or preparatory sessions ahead of competitive action at various levels.

The meeting was attended by Mattar Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council; Odonbaatar Shijeekhuu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the UAE; Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council; and Issam Kazim, Executive Director of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing.
