Spokesman for the Agriculture Ministry Mohamed el Qersh said that the cultivated area will increase to 5 million feddans with the view to achieving development and creating more job openings.
Speaking to DMC TV channel on Friday, the spokesman said that the new agricultural complexes and projects implemented by the State and the increase of the cultivated area to 5 million feddans aim to create job opportunities for farmers.
He added that the canal lining aims at reducing seepage loss of irrigation water by adding an impermeable layer to the edges of the trench.
He further noted that the “Decent Life” initiative aims at developing the Egyptian countryside and improving the standard of living for about 60 million citizens, at a total cost of more than EGP 700 billion.
Also, 320 agricultural complexes are being established to provide an integrated service to farmers, he added.
