Al-Quds Empowerment Fund (AEF), affiliated with Islamic Development Bank, announced its first package of development projects in Jerusalem during the current year.
The announcement came during a celebration held in Amman on Tuesday evening, which came on the sidelines of the meeting of the AEF’s Board of Trustees, hosted by the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (ACC).
According to an ACC statement, a group of agreements were signed related to the completed projects worth $18 million, as the the fund’s contribution reaches $7 million.
The agreements covered economic empowerment projects in Jerusalem, sponsorship of university students, contribution to back Arab Child Endowment, support for construction permits in Jerusalem, and establishment of a facility for the elderly affiliated with the Red Crescent Society in Jerusalem.
Speaking at the ceremony, AEF Chairman, His Highness Prince Turki Al-Faisal, expressed his thanks to Jordan and His Majesty King Abdullah II for hosting the meeting of the fund’s Board of Tru
stees.
His Highness said: “We meet today in light of the war of genocide waged against Gaza Strip and West Bank and attempts to displace the Palestinian people,” renewing support for the Palestinian people in defending their legitimate rights to achieve self-determination and establish their state with Jerusalem as its capital.
His Highness noted the escalation of the Israeli attack on Gaza, West Bank and Jerusalem and the dangers threatening Al-Aqsa Mosque, require increasing efforts to protect Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites, as well as the rest of the Palestinian lands and cities.
His Highness stated that AEF’s establishment is a new stage of action to serve Jerusalem, and an opportunity to redouble efforts to mobilize resources, build partnerships and expand work due to the Islamic Development Bank’s global presence, high transparency and strong governance.
Furthermore, His Highness called for unifying efforts towards the city of Jerusalem, contributing to support AEF and building f
unding partnerships among charitable and development organizations, institutions, and funds.
The Prince added that this effort would contribute to empower Jerusalemites economically and socially, and protect Jerusalem, which represents a religious, national, patriotic, and humanitarian duty.
