After visiting home Israel demolished in Ramallah, Prime Minister promises to rebuild every demolished home

Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said today, during a visit to the Froukh home demolished by the Israeli army in Ramallah this morning, that every house destroyed by the Israeli occupation authorities will be rebuilt and the needs of affected families will be dealt with as part of the government responsibility towards the people. ‘What the occupation authorities did was a heinous crime,’ he told reporters. ‘It turned an entire family overnight into a homeless family after demolishing its house. These punitive measures that did not happen in history are an attempt by the occupation authorities to demoralize our people.’ A large army unit raided Ramallah this morning and demolished, for punitive reasons, the family home of Islam Froukh, alleged to be responsible for a bomb attack in Jerusalem in November that killed two Israelis. The demolition of the home in a four-story building displaced Froukh’s parents and four sisters. Shtayyeh said that what is being done today is the reoccupation of the West Bank, whether it is Area A, B, or C. ‘It is quite clear that this government is disregarding any Palestinian sovereignty, whether that was stipulated in the agreements or otherwise,” he said in reference to the areas of the West Bank designated in the 1993 Oslo Accords into A, the cities which are under full Palestinian sovereignty, B, the towns and villages under joined Palestinian administration and Israeli security, and the scarcely inhabited C, which makes up most of the West Bank that remained under full Israeli military control. “The title of this Israeli government is not only the demolition of people’s homes but also the aggression against Al-Aqsa Mosque. This transition from secular Zionism to religious Zionism aims next at Al-Aqsa Mosque, and therefore we will do everything we can to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque just as we defend our homes, our sanctities, our history, the lives of our children, our land, and our homeland,’ said Shtayyeh.
