Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation El Sayed el Qousair said Africa has witnessed further crises after the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic.
The minister’s remarks came on Monday during his participation at the fourth meeting of the African Union’s Specialized Technical Committees (STCs) via videoconference.
He noted that the impacts of such crises and the repercussions of climate change negatively affected Africa, particularly agricultural activities across the continent.
The minister pointed out that the Russia-Ukraine conflict has also led to aggravating global food and energy crises.
He reaffirmed Egypt’s support for the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program (CAADP) to realize the goals of food security in Africa.
Egypt has prioritized African and developing countries to serve their interests when it recently hosted the United Nations climate change conference (COP27), the minister added.
