Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) and Tkiyet Um Ali (TUA), a Jordanian non-governmental organisation, on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to support the organizations’ programs and activities to help impoverished families.
The initiative stems from the ACC’s principle of social responsibility and reflects the joint strategic partnership, according to an ACC statement.
Under the MoU, support is provided to Tkiyet Um Ali’s programs and activities by distributing food parcels to 1,428 families living below the food poverty line in the Kingdom’s various governorates and also involves participation of chamber’s members in voluntary activities by contributing to deliver aid.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, ACC Chairman, Khalil Haj Tawfiq, said support to Tkiyet Um Ali’s food parcel program reflects the chamber’s commitment to “effectively” contribute to improve the living conditions of needy families and the reflects cooperation, solidarity and support to various humanitarian and charitable acti
vities.
Furthermore, he pointed out the importance of establishing partnerships with institutions, which seek to support local communities, stressing that the memo is a “new” step to achieve an ongoing partnership, aimed at implementing “qualitative” initiatives to contribute to sustainable development.
For his part, TUA Director General, Samer Balqar, valued the ACC’s support and commitment towards beneficiary families during the previous years, adding that this campaign will contribute to secure support to the Kingdom’s poorest families.
Noting Tkiyet Um Ali believes that this partnership will be a model to be applied in the field of charitable work, he stressed that the TUA pays special attention to enhance cooperation prospects with Jordan’s private sector institutions, given its belief in the necessity of involving various parties in supporting its goals and its sustainable food support programs.
Tkiyet Um Ali is currently providing sustainable food support to 20,000 households below the food poverty
line in 12 governorates, under the distribution of monthly food parcels containing 20 food items.
