Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit said the Russian-Ukrainian war will inevitably affect international efforts to address more pressing issues.
Addressing the 2023 Arab Forum for Sustainable Development in Beirut, he said channeling huge funds for financing war and alleviating its impact at the local level will affect financing sustainable projects and assistance offered to vulnerable areas.
He reiterated the Arab League’s commitment to exerting more efforts to realize the aspired Arab development.
He said the war is not expected to end soon, adding that the picture is dim as the impact of economic sanctions is expanding to all regions without exception.
