ABU DHABI: The Scientific Conference on Military Physical Readiness in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries commenced today in Abu Dhabi, featuring a distinguished group of military officials and fitness experts from GCC countries, along with representatives from ministries, agencies, institutions, and departments within the country.

The three-day conference, organised by the Ministry of Defence, spots light on new research and practices in sports aimed at enhancing the physical fitness of armed forces personnel and the sports community in the GCC.

This initiative aligns with the ministry’s commitment to organising and managing sports events at both local and international levels to boost the efficiency and physical readiness of its personnel.

In his opening speech, Major General Isa Rashid Obaid Al Muhairi, Commander of the Reserve Forces, and patron of the event, highlighted the vital role of physical readiness in enhancing the effectiveness of the armed forces and improving their preparedness to
face current and future security challenges.

He stated that the conference aims to discuss the latest innovations and developments in physical training and military fitness, as well as to share experiences and knowledge among the Gulf armies, noting that physical readiness is a fundamental element in achieving combat effectiveness.

He pointed out that the armed forces need to maintain high levels of fitness to cope with the physical and psychological pressures they encounter in the field to ensure maximum preparedness.

The first day’s activities included sessions and workshops that featured discussions on genetics and physical readiness in the armed forces, artificial intelligence and information technology and their roles in developing military sports, psychological and physical readiness for military personnel, the future trainer and risk management in military physical training, and functional training in the military field.
