H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, held separate meetings in New York with several foreign ministers from countries participating in the 79th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 79).
Sheikh Abdullah met with Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba; Margus Tsahkna, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia; Gabrielius Landsbergis, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania; Dr. Constantinos Kombos, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus; Alexandra Hill Tinoco, Minister of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador; Olivier Nduhungirehe, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Rwanda; Luminita Odobescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania; and Radoslaw Sikorski, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland.
The discussions with the ministers covered several issues on the agenda of the United Nations General Assembly, along with friendly relations and joint cooperation in several sectors, including the economy, investment,
trade, culture, food security, agriculture, climate, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, advanced technology and other areas that support the development goals of all countries.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah welcomed the ministers, stressing the UAE’s keenness to strengthen the bonds of friendship with their countries and expressed a desire for further cooperation in areas that serve the mutual interests of both sides.
Sheikh Abdullah also discussed with the ministers the latest regional and international developments, including the situation in the Middle East and the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
In a related context, Sheikh Abdullah met with Dr. Brenden Nelson, President of Boeing Global. During the meeting, they discussed prospects for cooperation between the two sides and the opportunities available to enhance it, especially in areas related to the aviation industry and supporting research and development in sustainable aviation technologies.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah stressed that the aviation sec
tor is one of the most prominent sectors supporting the UAE’s sustainable development and economic diversification, noting the UAE’s eagerness to enhance fruitful and constructive cooperation with international airlines to achieve the mutual interests of both sides.
The meetings were attended by Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State; Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs; Ambassador Mohamed Abushahab, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations; and Omar Shehadeh, Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Caribbean and Pacific States.
