Abdullah bin Salem inaugurates 6th ‘Ithraa’ Career Fair

SHARJAH: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated, on Monday, the sixth edition of the ‘Ithraa’ Career Fair in the Financial and Banking Sector.

The fair is organised by the Emirates Institute of Finance (EIF) in partnership with the Sharjah Department of Human Resources (SDHR) and the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), at the Expo Centre Sharjah.

The exhibition aims to introduce promising job opportunities for citizens, both male and female, and young people in the financial sector, increase their expertise on labour market trends, and raise Emiratisation rates in this vital sector for the country’s future economy.

The Deputy Ruler of Sharjah toured the exhibition halls, where he was introduced to the pavilions of various government agencies and private sector institutions, and the promising opportunities the exhibition provides for specialists in the financial and banking sectors.

At the beginning of his tour, Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem met a
number of EIF graduates, representing the “Ithraa Ambassadors” programme as part of those employed within the programme, where His Highness listened to their experience in qualification, training and employment.

During his tour of the exhibition, Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem listened to an explanation about EIF programmes, the great support it provides for Emiratisation and the employment of qualified professionals in the banking and insurance sectors, the bank’s objectives, and a number of statistics related to the programme in development and support for various institutions and entities.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem stopped at the Sharjah Department of Human Resources (SDHR) pavilion, where he was briefed on the initiatives offered by the department for Emiratisation and employment, in addition to training and qualification programmes.

During his tour of the pavilion, Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem launched the new digital version of the “Waffer” programme, which is supervised by the department and offers many pro
grammes, privileges and facilities to employees in Sharjah government. His Highness pressed the launch button for the programme, marking the official start of its operation.

The Deputy Ruler of Sharjah visited a number of pavilions at the exhibition, where he listened to a detailed explanation from representatives of the participating entities, and learned about the job and training opportunities provided by the entities for young high school graduates and holders of bachelor’s degrees in the financial and banking sectors, business administration, economics and information technology.

During his tour, Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem was briefed on the various job opportunities offered by the participating entities to accommodate the energies and cadres who aspire to work in the financial, banking, insurance and business administration sectors with their various specialisations in the public and private sectors, in addition to the multiple privileges they provide, including scientific support and training in line
with the fields of work and the qualifications of young graduates.

During the tour, the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah attended the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the EIF and the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), signed by Dr. Faisal Al Ayyan, Director of HCT, and Noura Al Balushi, Director General of the Institute.

The memorandum aims to build an effective partnership between the two parties that is consistent with their strategic objectives; exchange knowledge and make the most of the opportunities, capabilities and expertise available to each of them; and explore the possibility of supporting and providing vocational training and job opportunities for HCT students and graduates at EIF and its group of companies according to its needs and procedures and at its own discretion.

The memorandum also stipulates participation in research projects, studies and scientific consultations, testing and examining new technology and the possibilities of its application in cooperation between the two part
ies, in addition to cooperation between them in facilitating the exchange of information, strategies, objectives, action plans and special initiatives in line with the objectives and goals of this memorandum.

More than 100 entities and institutions from the most prominent banks, financial entities and institutions in the UAE are participating in the “Ithraa” exhibition this year, as the exhibition seeks in its current edition to provide more than 700 job opportunities for national professionals in vital and specialised positions in the sectors it targets.

The exhibition, in its sixth edition, comes within the “Ithraa” initiative that aims to support the emiratisation of the financial, banking and insurance sector by providing 9,375 jobs by 2026-2027, enhancing employment opportunities for citizens, and involving them in enhancing the paths of shaping the future in these vital sectors of the economy, and enhancing the status of youth and investing in their practical energies, as they are the main element in
sustainable development.

In addition to the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, the opening of the exhibition was attended by Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EIF; Abdullah Al Zaabi, Head of SDHR; Mohammed Abdullah, CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank; Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Centre Sharjah; Mohammed Ahmed Amin, Director-General of SCCI; Noura Al Belushi, Director-General of EIF, and a number of senior officials.
