Abdel Aty Receives International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies President


Cairo: Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, held a meeting with Ms. Kate Forbes, President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. During the meeting, Minister Abdel Aty reiterated the commitment to continue cooperation with the Federation, supporting its mission as the largest network of humanitarian organizations worldwide, encompassing over 190 national societies.



According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Abdel Aty discussed Egypt’s efforts in establishing a ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing the necessity for the international community to intervene and alleviate the humanitarian crisis in the region. He highlighted Egypt’s role in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza and noted the Arab Summit’s endorsement of an Egyptian plan for the early recovery and reconstruction of the area.



Minister Abdel Aty stressed the importance of collaborative efforts among national societies within the International Federation to implement the reconstruction plan, focusing on the early recovery phase. He detailed Egypt’s contributions in providing humanitarian and relief aid to regions such as Gaza, Sudan, Lebanon, and Syria, and outlined Egypt’s potential to serve as a regional hub for managing the operations of international relief organizations.



Additionally, Minister Abdel Aty mentioned the efforts undertaken by Egypt to host a significant number of refugees and migrants, ensuring they receive essential services and are integrated into Egyptian society.
