Cairo: Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, received Ms. Kate Forbes, President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, on Monday, 10 March. Minister Abdel Aty confirmed the commitment to continue fruitful cooperation with the International Federation and to support its mission as the largest network of humanitarian organisations, comprising more than 190 national societies around the world.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Abdel Aty reviewed Egypt’s diligent efforts to establish a ceasefire in Gaza in its three phases. He emphasised the need for the international community to play its role in ending the humanitarian catastrophe within the enclave and highlighted Egypt’s efforts in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.
The Minister also pointed out the Arab Summit’s adoption of the Egyptian plan for early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza. He stressed the importance of the collective efforts of all national societies affiliated with the International Federation to implement the plan, including the early recovery phase.
Minister Abdel Aty outlined Egypt’s role in providing humanitarian and relief assistance in various regions, specifically in Gaza, Sudan, Lebanon, and Syria. He mentioned the potential for Egypt to become a regional hub for managing the operations of international organisations working in the field of relief and humanitarian assistance.
He noted the efforts Egypt has made to host large numbers of refugees and migrants, providing them with all necessary services and facilities to integrate into Egyptian society.
