The Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem today forced a Palestinian resident of occupied East Jerusalem to self-demolish his residential building under the pretext of building without a permit.
Talaat Hassasna said the Israeli municipality forced him to demolish his residential building, consisting of four apartments, in Jabal al-Mukabber neighborhood, south of the occupied Jerusalem.
He said he began self-demolishing it to avoid being fined or forced to pay exorbitant amounts of money if the demolition is carried out by the municipality staff.
Hassasna said the building houses his family and his brothers’ families and is built on his land.
