The fifth International Vascular Congress commenced on Wednesday, bringing together medical professionals, delegations, and experts from Jordan, as well as Arab and foreign nations. The 3-day biennially-held conference, inaugurated by Health Minister Firas Hawari, will deliberate upon the most crucial advancements in diagnosing and treating vascular diseases. In remarks at the opening ceremony, Hawari said that the conference serves as a platform for sharing knowledge, expertise, and insights related to vascular diseases, in order to provide the best medical services. “Jordan has been able to achieve many key successes in various sectors over the past several years, the most notable of which is the health sector, witnessing extraordinary improvements in numerous medical specializations,” he said, noting that vascular surgery is one of the most visible of these improvements, which has had a favorable impact on the quality of health-care services and has helped to promote medical tourism. The minister referred to the Ministry of Health’s accomplishments in this regard, including having the capacity to perform all operations of central and peripheral blood vessels, such as aortic surgery, artery blockage in the extremities, dialysis connections, and kidney transplantation on a semi-weekly basis, in addition to therapeutic catheters interventions. He stated that the ministry is aiming to develop the vascular surgery area of expertise by establishing a training program, supervised by Al-Bashir Hospitals and the Royal Medical Services, to increase the quality of patient care. Mamoun Al-Bashir, the conference’s president, emphasized the conference’s role as a platform for networking and establishing international collaborations, saying, “By pooling their collective expertise, the medical community will improve patient outcomes, refine treatment protocols, and explore new avenues for research and development.”
