Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Mohamed Abdel Ati said on Sunday
21/11/2021 five new rainfall detection stations have now joined service,
bringing to 38 total centers across the nation.
The new stations are located in Al Dakhla in the New Valley governorate, Siwa
in Matrouh governorate and Hurghada in Red Sea governorate, the minister said
in a statement.
These stations largely contribute to detecting rainfall and determining its
quantity and distribution across the nation in a way that helps taking
immediate measures to avoid devastating effects of floods, he said.
It also helps in rainfall prediction, he added.
He said these stations come as part of the ministry’s efforts to provide
immediate and accurate data on rainfall to help decision makers in the country
take appropriate decisions.
They also come as part of the ministry’s digital transformation efforts, he
added.
