The Capital Governorate recorded the highest percentage of net job creation at 59.1 percent of the total net job creation (noting that the population of the capital constitutes about 42 percent of the Kingdom’s population), while Balqa Governorate recorded the lowest percentage of job creation at 0.1 percent of the total net job creation during the second half of 2023, compared to 39,941 or 89.3 percent of the total net job creation.
By nationality, the results showed that the net jobs created for Jordanians in the second half of 2023 amounted to 43,556 of the total net jobs, or 89.3 percent, compared to 39,941, or 85.8 percent, during the first half of the same year.
As for non-Jordanians, the net jobs created in the second half amounted to 5,223, distributed among Egyptians at 33.6 percent, Syrians at 17 percent, Iraqis at 2.7 percent, other Arabs by 4 percent, and non-Arabs by 42.8 percent.
The results of the survey showed that the majority of net jobs were concentrated in education, amounting to 11,700
jobs in the second half, followed by public administration and defense, where 8,327 jobs were created.
In terms of occupation, the results indicate that 45.9 percent of the total net jobs created were for specialists, followed by sales and service workers at 23.4 percent.
As for the reasons that lead to an individual leaving his job and looking for a new job, the results showed that the main reason was related to “working conditions and nature of work”, which accounted for the largest percentage of 51.8 percent, including the distance of the workplace from the place of residence and the length of working hours, while the percentage was 48.2 percent for the rest of the reasons.
Net job creation is defined as the sum of new jobs created during the time reference period minus the sum of jobs left during the same time reference period.
New jobs means the jobs that the individual obtained during the six-month reference period, and jobs left means the jobs that the individual left during the six-month reference
period.
