Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences has unveiled the second edition of the ‘Hamdan EFQM Education Model,’ a global educational initiative developed in collaboration with EFQM Foundation.
This innovative model is designed to elevate the quality of education and educational outcomes in schools across the UAE and worldwide. Its approach involves promoting and implementing the standards and principles embedded in the model, crafted by an international team of experts adhering to the best global practices.
Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, the Secretary-General of Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, highlighted the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to reinforcing the UAE’s educational leadership strategy. He emphasised the Foundation’s dedication to enhancing education quality through various training programs, awards, research, studies, and events. The second edition launch of the ‘Hamdan EFQM Education Model’ in collaboration with EFQM is
part of broader initiatives aimed at improving education quality nationally and globally. The model’s implementation involves experts in education from both within and outside the country, with an anticipated positive impact on enhancing the quality of education by focusing on the development of the school education system.
Russell Longmuir, CEO of EFQM, expressed delight in the collaboration, underlining the importance of the ‘Hamdan EFQM Education Model’ in raising educational effectiveness globally. Longmuir emphasised EFQM’s role in measuring school performance and strategic effectiveness, serving as an ideal framework for assessing schools’ aspirations, current practices, and adaptability to challenges. He hoped that the model would significantly contribute to the development of the educational sector in the country, showcasing its efficiency and global adoption for performance enhancement and continuous evaluation.
The project organisers have clarified that the implementation will occur in two phases.
The first phase will focus on training teachers, while the second phase will involve evaluating schools. Five schools from the UAE, along with one school from Kuwait, will participate in this initiative.
The teacher training phase will continue until the end of November 2023. An internationally certified and highly competent trainer will explain the global Hamdan EFQM Educational Model and train schools on its various standards. The training phase will be conducted through three key workshops.
The school evaluation phase is set to commence from January 2024 to February 2024. During this period, three international experts will conduct four-day field visits to assess each school and determine its level. The announcement of the participating schools’ levels is scheduled to take place in the year 2024.
