Amman: In a referral to the International Criminal Court (ICC) on potential crimes, Mexico and Chile expressed “growing worry” on Thursday over the rising bloodshed in the Palestinian besieged enclave of Gaza.
Widespread destruction in the crowded Gaza Strip since October 7 has drawn increased attention and concern from around the world due to the thousands of civilian deaths, many of whom were children.
Mexico also mentioned that it was attentively watching the International Criminal Court case that was heard last week, in which South Africa urged that the court immediately halt Israel’s military campaign in Gaza and accused Israel of committing genocide there.
Mexico “trusts that these actions… can pave the way for an immediate ceasefire and contribute to moving toward lasting peace in the region based on a solution of two states which coexist within secure and internationally recognized borders.”
