10,000 citizens benefited from free medical convoys in ophthalmology last year: Health ministry

The Health and Population Ministry announced that as many as 10,588 received free medical treatment through 15 medical convoys specialized in ophthalmology in eight governorates during last year.

The convoys were conducted in Behira, Assuit, Minya, Qena, Beni Suef, Matrouh, Luxor and Sohag, Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said in statements Friday.

The convoys offered medical glasses free of charge to as many as 3,399 citizens, he added.

He, meanwhile, said that the program to combat trachoma was implemented in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) in the governorates of Beni Suef and Minya.
