The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Ministry signed on Thursday 26/5/2022 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with 10 international companies to support the “Ashbal Misr Digital Initiative”, a free grant aimed at enhancing IT skills for top-performing students.
The 10 companies include Cisco, IBM, VMware, Valeo, AMS, Vodafone For Community Development, Microsoft, Google, Dell Technologies, and Huawei.
The five-year initiative will choose 3,000 students in all schools across the country, from grade 7 till grade 11, in order to prepare a distinguished generation of young people capable of exploring new horizons in the fields of communications and IT, said ICT Minister Amr Tallat.
An initial budget worth dlrs 25 million has been allocated to this initiative, which comes within the framework of the Ministry’s strategy to build digital capabilities, added the minister.
The initiative aims to develop the technological skills of 3,000 outstanding students in cooperation with specialized local and international authorities in various technological sciences to cover scientific and educational aspects in addition to implementing activities to develop personal and leadership skills.
The initiative combines scientific and practical study at the same time, and the training days do not conflict with school studies, or the dates of exams announced in the educational system, and 75% of the training will be available online, with the remaining 25% given in training centers in various governorates in a way that helps them implement the applied projects required of them each year.
