As part of Egypt’s “100 Million Healthy Lives Initiative” to eradicate Hepatitis C in Egypt and detect noncommunicable diseases, 1.745 million first graders in preparatory schools have been examined since the launch of the initiative on November 21 and until the beginning of Eidul-Fitr holiday, announced the Health and Population Ministry.

This came within the framework of directives issued by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to continue carrying out regular 5-year check-up medical tests for first graders in preparatory schools to protect the coming generations from Hepatitis C.

The health initiative is targeting 2.5 million students in the first grade during the current semester, said Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar.
